On a small island like Curaçao you’ll find more than beautiful beaches. We are very proud to have the oldest synagogue (1732) of the Western hemisphere in Curaçao. A special building that is still used by the local Jews.
A part of the synagogue is also a museum. In the museum you can see all kinds of objects that have been collected by the Jews over the years.
The interior of the synagogue is beautiful. It's designed with many details and objects dated back to 1700. The architecture of the building is based on the Portuguese synagogue in Amsterdam.
Visit the Mikve Israel-Emanuel synagogue and discover the story behind the Jewish community in Curaçao.
